“The way forward is the way back,” notes T. S. El­iot. Innovation often comes from the strange “al­chemy” of familiarity with the past, holy restless­ness in the present, an “aha” idea, discernment as to possibilities, and authority to act. In this session we will look at several “breakthrough” moments in worship innovation in the Church’s history, and then discuss what innovations may still lie ahead for those willing to learn from the past.
